Offa, Kwara State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Offa Local Government Area was temporarily locked due to a misunderstanding over rent payments, according to a statement released by the Offa LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Kunle Adegboye.
In the statement addressed to party members and the public, Hon. Adegboye explained that the closure was a result of an “erroneously locked up” secretariat. He further detailed that the party had reported the issue to the Nigerian Police, leading to the arrest of an individual who allegedly issued backdated receipts to an “illegal claimant” after collecting rent from the APC.

Hon. Adegboye stated that the arrested individual confessed to collecting rent and issuing receipts. The party is now demanding that this individual ensure the immediate reopening and handover of the property back to the APC Offa LGA for its official use, pending the final resolution of the matter at the police headquarters.
The statement also indicated that the receipts issued to the party have been attached as part of the ongoing investigation. Hon. Adegboye noted that further investigation is underway to clarify discrepancies regarding the number of years covered by the party’s payments.
“I shall keep you updated on any subsequent development on the matter,” Hon. Adegboye assured party members and the public. He also expressed his sincere appreciation for their concern for the peace and development of the party.
While the statement suggests a swift resolution is anticipated with the police involved, the incident highlights potential internal administrative challenges within the local chapter of the ruling party. Further updates are expected as the police investigation progresses and the party works to regain access to their secretariat.
