Lagos, Nigeria –– A 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode, is in police custody following the alleged fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, identified as Damilola, in the Ijegun area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest today.

Reports indicate that Anegbode visited the deceased on Friday, leading to a heated argument between the couple. Sources within the neighborhood, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted hearing a prolonged and intense verbal exchange before the tragic incident unfolded.

One resident stated, “We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor.”

Another neighbor added that after the alleged stabbing, residents immediately rushed Damilola to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. They also ensured Anegbode did not flee the scene.

“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead. Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident explained.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. He stated that the case was reported to the Igando Police Division at approximately 11:30 am on Friday.

“The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested,” CSP Hundeyin said.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing are currently underway.
